Australian Framing Solutions (AFS), a market leader in the manufacture of quality, light weight steel frames and trusses has a new factory inside the Borallon Training and Correctional Centre near Ipswich. AFS is employing a prisoner workforce to reduce costs and keep their manufacturing business at home in Queensland.
AFS is taking part in Queensland Corrective Services’ workRestart initiative where companies conduct their business inside the prison precinct, thereby giving prisoners access to real work opportunities. In return, firms gain access to low-cost facilities and a readily available labour force that is eager to be employed and trained.
The experience and instruction that prisoners receive working for AFS gives these men a better chance of securing jobs beyond the prison gates.
